The name Tau and Stream carries two threads of meaning that reflect who I am. Stream is the easy one — it reflects where I'm happy to be, wading a stream while fly fishing. Tau runs a little deeper. The Tau (τ) is an ancient symbol — the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet — that has carried the shape of the cross since before the New Testament era. It was the symbol St. Francis of Assisi loved most, using it as his personal seal and signing his letters with it as a mark of faith and devotion to Christ. Francis also happened to be the patron saint of animals and the natural world, a man who preached to birds and found God's presence in every creature and stream and field. That parallel felt right to me. There's also a simpler layer: Tau is the first letter of my last name. So Faith, nature, and a personal touch — all in three letters.
